They Just Keep on Rolling

Wow, this team is truly amazing!!! They just keep playing amazing football. It is especially fun to see a trick play every now and then, always messes with the other team.

Team Update.....

Wow, what a game yesterday!
The snow was incredible how it seemed to fall sideways, or was that the wind blowing the frozen snow flakes into my face? Well if it wasn't the snow, wind, soggy feet, or mascara running down your face that made the day yesterday......it was definitely the amazing game our boys played.
Really, our team brought some cool stuff to the table. Although the new WildCat play worked like a charm, I have to say the 'wrong ball' play that Connor and Colton pulled off was the coolest play I've seen in a while. Where does Coach come up with this stuff? That play started the game off with a touchdown.......and it was all Riverton Silver the rest of the way! Our boys really stepped it up yesterday, all of them! They played an amazing game, I'm so proud of them.

I want to say Thanks again to all of you for your support this year, despite the snow storm that seemed to hover directly over our game, we had a huge turnout of fans and supporters. We always have the most crowded sideline, and I really believe that plays a role in our teams success!
Thanks to everyone who helped bring shelter, heat, and hot chocolate!!

Okay, I know it's been a long season and after yesterdays blizzard conditions I'm sure many of you are ready for the season to be over. It looks like we will be getting decent weather at least for Mondays game. Borderwarz is going to be a super fun experience for the boys, and at this point that's all we are playing for! Our boys have had an amazing year, they are already the Champions. So win or lose at Borderwarz we are still winners!
Our game Monday is at 6:30pm, players must be there by 5:00pm. The tournament requires all teams be there an hour and a half early. Although is shouldn't be snowing on us it will be cold, dress for the weather, and dress your player for the weather too!
Feel free to check out www.borderwarz.net for prices, and rules of the tournament.
Remember that signs and banners are allowed in the stands.....
Our players know our black flags anywhere right? so I am going to suggest that you take your flag off the pole and bring it with you to wave in the stands! Feel free to make additional banners and signs if you want!
And as always, if you have ANY questions, please feel free to call or email us! See you tomorrow!
Go Riverton Silver, lets show'em what we got!

We did it!

Wow! we did it! We made it through the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record! This is so exciting! Our boys have practiced hard for the last 3 months and it has paid off! They should be very proud of themselves, I know the coaches are very proud of the team. It is a big accomplishment to win all of our games!
Here we come playoffs! We do not have our playoff schedule yet but Coach is attending a meeting Monday at 6:30 where he is expecting to get the schedule. However, there is a 3-way tie for 3rd place in our division so we may not get our exact schedule until after they have the tie-breaker game between those teams. I will let you know as soon as possible what time our game will be on Saturday. Since we are first place in our division we will play the #4 team.
If you have any questions about the playoffs and how they work please let us know!

We will be practicing this week at Riverton Park. Practice will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30. We are practicing under the lights so we will be able to have full practices throughout the playoffs.

Riverton City Park is 12650 S and 1500 W.
You can turn onto 1500 W from 12600 S.........this is a very large park and there are several different areas of grass fields to practice on. We do not know exactly where we will be practicing, it is a first come first serve basis as to which field location you get. So look for Coach's black truck!! We will try to get the same field throughout the week!

Thanks! If you have any questions please call!

Practice Schedule for this Week

Hello Team!

Due to the forecast of very cold and snowy weather this week practice will be scheduled as follows:

Tuesday 10/27 5:30-6:45
Wednesday 10/28 5:30-7:00
Thursday 10/29 5:30-7:00

Please remember to dress the boys for the weather. This week will be good example of the weather we are likely to face throughout the playoffs and tournament games. It will be good for the boys to wear clothing that helps keep them warm but that they can also play comfortably in.
The boys have been provided with hand warmers and neck warmers in an attempt to help keep them warm. Please use them! Also they should double up on the socks, cold toes usually results in the rest of the body being cold too!
I have talked to many of you about buying tights.....yep, girls tights! The boys kinda throw a fit at first but tights really go a long way in keeping the body warm. They can be hidden beneath socks and pants and provide an extra layer on the feet! They really work well!
I have put a box of the little hand warmers in the coaches bag. If the boys activate one of those heat pouches and put it in the hand warmer they were given it really keeps that little pocket warm!
I will also do my best to keep hot chocolate available for the boys on the sideline!

For future games.......
In the event of snow, it is nice to have the shade awnings and tarps that can be put up for shelter. If anyone has these items that they would be willing to bring and set up please let me know. We would want one for the team to stand under and then of course we need to protect ourselves!! :) This is only if we end up playing in a storm, so far we have been very fortunate with the weather, but you never know!

We have had a phenomenal season! I'm so excited for the success of our team and hope we can play just as well throughout the playoffs! I just want to say again how much I appreciate all the parent support that we have on our team. I know the boys and the coaches really appreciate the crowded sidelines at each game. It makes all those nights of practicing worth every minute!

Team Update.....

Hope you all had a great weekend!

This is just a reminder that Tournament Money is due no later than Saturday 10/17. The fee is $40 per player.
FYI- I spoke with tournament officials today. They assured me that we will be playing teams that are at equal skill levels as our team. We will NOT be playing against any 'A' teams, we will be divided into brackets according to our win/loss record, average weight and age but also with other 'B' teams. So this is good news.
Please, if any of you have questions about the tournament, let me know!

Also, I am working on a end of year highlight video for the boys. If any of you have great pictures that you would like me to put in the video please email them to me! Or you can put then on a disc and give them to me that way! Whatever is easiest for you. I am doing my best to get pictures of everyone but it is challenging! Please send me all your great pics!

Judy Hart and I are working on some things to help keep the boys warm.......however, please don't forget to dress the boys for the weather! As is gets colder we need to remember to have the boys wear long socks. Even wearing two pairs of socks is a good idea! Long sleeves......Under Armor is available at the sports stores but can be expensive. Target offers a knock-off brand that I think is equally effective and very affordable! Layer-up!! Cold boys don't play as well!
Wearing tights, or some kind of stretch pant under their football pants also goes a long way in helping the boys stay warm!!

We will see you at practice this week on Tues, Wed and Thurs from 5:30-7:30pm!

Ute Football and schedules

I would like to take a minute to talk about the schedule. The Ute Football site has two versions of out schedule. One is listed with all of the other teams in our conference and is a pdf, the other is a filtered list with just our team. I have put a link to both on the right hand side of the site. BEWARE the two schedules match as far as times and locations, however they conflict on most games between home and away team. I have corrected the blog to match the pdf version as this has been correct so far. Just wanted to let everyone know. Please refer to what the coach says and hand out given for each game as to what color of jersey to wear. Don't trust the Ute site.

Off to a Great Start

The Silverwolves are off to a great start, with two wins against good football teams. Next week looks be another great game. Good luck boys, work hard this week, and keep up the great football.

Players of the Game 9/12

Great win on Saturday against a good Riverton White Team. Congratulations to our players of the game, #30 Stetson Thacker, #9 Kaden Comish, and #65 Tanner Arriola.

Saturdays Scrimmage and Pep Rally

Our scrimmage game against ALTA on Saturday is at 8:00am. It is at Riverton field #1.

Coach wants the team at the field by 7:00am. They will be running through the plays and getting all warmed up and game ready! Players will need to wear their "game" jerseys (that's the purple ones!) and socks.

Also on Saturday is the Riverton Football Pep Rally. This is the only fundraiser the league is having this year. That's good because it kept our boys from having to go around selling items to earn money for the league!! So please tell your families and friends to plan on attending the scrimmage this Saturday and enjoying the Pep Rally after the game!!

There will be hot dogs, chips, drinks and etc available at a low price! After all the games are over there will be a dunk tank in which the players can dunk their coach for only $0.50 cents a throw!!
WHAT GETS BETTER THAN THAT BOYS?????
There will also be a raffle with cool prizes and the Riverton High Cheerleaders will be there to perform!
It's sure to be a fun afternoon and an inexpensive way to entertain the family!
Although the Rally will be going on all day, during the games......scrimmages are over at 3:00pm and that is when the dunk tank and things will take place!

Pictures Tonight

Just a reminder that pictures are tonight, Wed Aug 26th @ 5:30pm. Please be on time!
The boys need to wear their PURPLE jerseys and game socks!!!! Helmets are NOT worn in pictures so feel free to comb that hair before it gets all sweaty!!! :)
Please have your picture order form filled out before you arrive at pictures and have payment ready if you are choosing to purchase additional photos or other items!

Practice will be right after pictures, from 6:00pm-8:00pm!!

Team BBQ

The BBQ was awesome! We had a great turnout! Thank you all so much for your willingness to bring salads, desserts, chips, paper goods, drinks......... it was all fabulous! A HUGE thank you to Coach Salazar who was able to hook us up big time with all the hamburgers, hot dogs, and buns! Thank you Thank you Thank you! Also thanks to everyone else who brought BBQ items! We couldn't have done this BBQ without everyone being so willing to help out! We really really appreciate everyone's efforts! The team is so lucky to have such supportive parents!

Saturdays Scrimmage

Wow! What a crazy day! The boys looked great in the scrimmage! The coaches were very proud of all the boys. They have worked hard and come a long way in just a short time! They were glad to see where they still needed work, but were very excited about how well we did!

Thank You so much to those of you who brought the awnings that provided shelter from the rain for so many parents! Pretty sure we'll have several more cold rainy days by the time the year is over, lets just hope they are in October rather than August!!

Week Two Photos

Scrimmage and BBQ

BBQ Info
We will BBQ at the same place we practice. Everyone should plan on bringing their own chairs or blankets. The BBQ will be a great opportunity for our team to really 'gel' together and get to know each other better. Please plan to spend this hour with the team -- you are welcome to bring the whole family!
There are still several slots open for the BBQ sign-ups, if you have not had a chance to look at that please find Stacie at practice! Thanks for all your support!

Saturday Weigh-ins

Weigh-ins on Saturday are scheduled at 8:20am. We are required to be there 20min early. All players must be at the practice field at 7:55am, we will then walk over to weigh-ins together. What contacts/connections do you have that could benefit our team?? I will be attending a league 'team mom' mtg at 6:00 pm and will then share that information with you when we meet at 7:00! Thanks for your support!

First Injury of the Season

We have had our first injury of the year, let's hope it is also our last. Maguire Strong received 4 stitches in his chin after practice on Tuesday night.

Welcome to Gremlins Football

Dear Riverton Gremlin Players and Parents,

Welcome to Ute Conference Football. As a coaching staff, we are very excited to get to know your boys and are looking forward to helping them develop their skills, have a lot of fun and hopefully win a bunch of football games. For all of the first-year players and families, I suspect by now you’ve observed a difference between football and the other youth sports you may have participated in. The schedule of practices and games is demanding, but in the end, your son will have an opportunity to learn many of the fundamentals of the game and will begin to learn many important life lessons – including how to overcome obstacles, how to be persistent and how to work as a team toward a common goal.

My philosophy with regard to youth sports is that above all else, it should be fun. Fun doesn’t always translate into easy or leisurely, but just because we are learning new skills and pushing ourselves to try a little harder, it doesn’t mean that we can’t smile a little bit while we do it. I would like to try to find new and engaging ways to teach the boys. We will do things like the Caterpillar Race, Relay Races and Bull In The Ring, to keep their attention and to make it competitive and fun.

I wanted to write a few words with regard to practice time. The teams we will be competing against this year all are working on the same schedule and I expect that they all will be well-prepared when we meet. In order for us to be equally prepared, it is important that the boys are at practice and that they are on time. If a player is consistently missing practice time, that player will tend to fall farther and farther behind the rest of the team. In many ways, football is just like math class in that one concept builds on another. Also important (particularly early in the season) is that players learn the correct techniques so that they can minimize the potential for injury. If your son needs to miss practice, please let me know as far in advance as possible. The easiest way to reach me is to email me at cdubb36@gmail.com or call me on my cell at (801) 916-4723.

Lastly, with regard to playing time, Ute Conference rules require that all players play at least 10 plays during each game (unless they are held-out for injury, disciplinary reasons or for missing practice.) It is my goal to exceed this minimum with every player every week. That said, playing time is based on our observations regarding effort during practice, attitude and skill. As coaches, we will try to put each player in a position to succeed and to be able to be on the field as much as possible.

Parents, thank you for allowing your son to be a part of our team this year. We drafted each of these players because we saw in each of them the potential to improve and to enjoy their experience this year. If you have any concerns or questions, please talk to me after practice or drop me an email.

Thanks and Go Silverwolves!

Coach Cody Williams
